February 1, 2010: PeachCare for Kids

Father and son at computer.PeachCare for Kids is a low-cost health insurance for children. This is the way that Georgia takes care of Georgia's uninsured kids.

Georgia children under age 19 may qualify for PeachCare if they don't have other insurance. They must be U.S. citizens or qualified legal residents. A child may not qualify for PeachCare for Kids if one of the parents works for the State of Georgia.

There are some income limits for joining, too. The child's family income must be less than or equal to 235% of the federal poverty level. For example, for a family of three you need to make less than $43,030 a year and for a family of four you should earn less than $51,819.

If you have any questions, call PeachCare for Kids at 1-877-GA-PEACH (877-427-3224) or check out their website. You can also find information about the federal poverty level here.

At Georgia Families, we want to help keep kids healthy, and help you keep your children up-to-date with Health Check visits.
